The Michelin Scotland Innovation Parc (MSIP) has transformed a former Michelin tyre factory into a hub for innovation in sustainable energy, green mobility, and low-carbon technologies.
The initiative fosters collaboration among businesses, academia, and government, driving economic growth, creating jobs, and supporting Scotland’s transition to a low-carbon economy.
Jobs Created/Income:
MSIP has attracted 16 companies, collectively supporting 190 jobs in the region, from research and development, manufacturing and operations within the renewable energy sector.
5,000 young learners in the community have engaged with the project, providing education and experience with green technologies and sustainable practices. The companies have helped diversify and bolster Dundee’s economic base, and should increase employment opportunities for years to come.
Climate Impact:
MSIP plays an important role in Scotland’s efforts to reduce carbon emissions by focusing on renewable energy and low-carbon solutions. The innovation parc supports the development of green technologies such as offshore wind energy and sustainable transportation. By fostering the growth of these technologies, MSIP is helping to lower greenhouse gas emissions and contribute to a more sustainable future.
Consumer Benefits:
By advancing green technologies, MSIP contributes to more stable and potentially lower energy costs in the long term. Consumers have greater access to cleaner, more sustainable energy and transportation options: The low-carbon technologies developed at MSIP help create products and services that are more environmentally friendly, reducing consumers’ carbon footprints. Additionally, MSIP also provides educational outreach which helps raise awareness and understanding of sustainable practices, empowering them to make more informed choices in their daily lives.
